Yoga classes for kids
This program is for children aged between 5 and 13 years.
The benefits and structure of a Yoga class for kids are different from those intended for adults.
Guaranteed benefits for children:
The program is intended for children between 5 and 13 years old.
The activities are organized and adapted to the age and development of the children and are part of a program that lasts the entire school year.
At the beginning we will take off our footwear and socks and lie on the yoga mat or sitting in a meditation position.
The instructor can guide the kids to close their eyes and relax, to imagine how their problems / situations disappear.
Start – At the beginning of the class, all the positions taught in the previous lesson are repeated and exemplified on the mattress, each child participates through games to help identify the name of the positions.
Anatomy – the child is guided to indicate anatomical parts (bones, muscles) taught in the previous class; the duration of this activity is 5-10 minutes and is performed several times a month
Breathing – the child is encouraged to focus on the way he breathes, to do it easily and deeply. The instructor teaches him how to breathe correctly, using simple techniques adjusted to the child’s age
Postures – are light movements, stretches, twists, balance and body bends that help the child to have a correct posture. The instructor uses illustrated cards with Yoga positions, all of which are animals, plants or other objects that children can easily exemplify.
In each posture he performs, the child is encouraged to breathe through his nose, to avoid forcing a movement (if he fails to perform it) and to stop if he feels pain in performing the movement.
Games – That can be mattress games, standing games or games in pairs.
Working alone and in pairs, children will be stimulated to express their own emotions.
Relaxation – after the kids perform a series of movements and games, they are instructed to sit on their backs on the Yoga mat and close their eyes.
The child will be encouraged to mentally visualize certain experiences – a flowing water, mountain, sea, flower field, birds singing or floating on a white cloud.
Returning – at the end of the class, the child will be encouraged to make light stretching movements and to gradually get up from the mattress.
